Is an address needed to receive an offer to rent?

Yes, it is. For landlords, who are direct recipients of a potential tenant’s consumer reports, the address of your rental property must be entered in SoftScreen® before reports can be provided. This requirement satisfies federal law by establishing Rental Screening as the reason you will receive a consumer’s private information.

When you’re working with an awesome real estate professional!

In most instances, the address of your rental will be entered for you by your representing real estate agent. Your agent will send you a link inviting you to join distribution and receive all tenant submissions. Using the link will take you to www.SoftScreen.com. It will guide you through your account creation and then the acceptance of your invitation to join distribution. Going forward, anytime a potential tenant submits their offer to rent, you will be notified by email. Simply log in to view all offers.

If you cannot view tenant submissions, please check with your agent to ensure they have added you to distribution. Then, click “My Invitations” to accept your agent’s invitation to join distribution.

Going it alone, without an agent on board…

If you have decided not to harness the marketing strength and expertise of an awesome real estate agent, you will have to register the address of your rental before you can receive an applicant’s offer to rent.
